How treatment works
Personal Assessment & Planning
- Assessment & records — photos, a 3D scan and X-rays if needed.
- Bonding — tooth-coloured brackets placed; a wire is engaged.
- Adjustments — reviews every 6–10 weeks to progress wires/elastics.
- Finishing — detailed bite adjustments and smile refinement.
- Retention — removable and/or fixed retainers to keep results stable.
Life with ceramic braces
- Eating: avoid very hard, sticky or chewy foods; cut firm foods small.
- Comfort: mild tenderness after fittings/adjustments is normal; orthodontic wax helps rubbing.
- Hygiene: brush with fluoride toothpaste; use interdental brushes around brackets and wires.
- Elastic ties: clear ties can discolour with strongly coloured foods/drinks; we’ll change them at reviews.
- Sport & music: wear a mouthguard for contact sports; most musicians adapt quickly.
Ceramic vs metal braces
Both straighten teeth effectively. Ceramic brackets are less visible; metal can be a touch more durable and may glide wires slightly more freely in some movements. We’ll recommend the system that best fits your case and preferences.
Treatment Timeline
Most ceramic-brace treatments take 12–24 months, depending on complexity and goals. We’ll map out your plan and review progress regularly.
Aftercare & retention
To maintain your result, we’ll use removable retainers and/or a fixed retainer bonded behind teeth, with a simple wear schedule and periodic checks.
