How Treatment Works
- Assessment & digital scan – we take photographs and a 3D scan; X-rays if needed.
- 3D treatment plan – you’ll preview likely movements and timelines.
- Custom aligners – a series of trays is made to gently guide teeth.
- Wear & review – aligners are worn 20–22 hours/day and changed as directed; reviews are typically every 6–10 weeks.
- Finish & retain – once we reach the goal, we fit retainers to keep the new smile stable.
What makes it “Teen”
- Growth-aware planning to account for teeth still coming through.
- Eruption compensators (where appropriate) to allow for emerging teeth.
- Wear tracking and parental oversight to help build good habits.
- Spare aligners can be arranged if a tray is lost—ask at your consult.
What Invisalign Teen can help with
- Crowding and rotations
- Gaps/spaces
- Overbite (deep bite) and underbite (case-dependent)
- Crossbite and open bite (case-dependent)
- Relapse after previous orthodontics
- Some complex cases are still best with fixed braces. We’ll advise the most effective option for a predictable result.
Timeline & reviews
Many teen treatments take 6–18 months, depending on complexity and growth. Reviews are planned to minimise time away from school; some checks can be done virtually when appropriate.
Aftercare & retention
Retainers keep teeth settled once treatment ends. We’ll prescribe removable and/or fixed retainers, explain wear schedules, and review stability over time.
